UNITED TOGETHER FOR POLITICAL PRISONERS IN RWANDA
The parties UDFR – IHAMYE and ISANGANO-ARRDC would like to inform the public that they join the Party PS-IMBERAKURI to strongly condemn the Rwandan government for serious violations of human rights, abuse, inhuman degrading treatments to political opponents and other inmate Rwandan prisoners and call upon the international community, human rights organizations such as Amnesty international, Human Rights Watch, International Federation for Human Rights, and others for a mobilization and an international condemnation of the Rwandan regime, its intelligence and prisons services, and the RPF-Inkotanyi party in power since 1994 for their barbaric acts.
The parties UDFR-IHAMYE and ISANGANO-ARRDC also ask the Rwandan government to assume its responsibilities and to ensure in particular the safety of prisoners whose name below were transferred from the Kigali Central Prison (1930) for political reasons to Mpanga Prison:
1. Major NDAGIJIMANA (former FAR)
2. Mr. MUNYAGISAKA
3. Mr. SEBAHAMBIZI Ezekiel
4. Mr. MAZIMPAKA;
5. Mr. Said;
6. Pastor UWIMBABAZI Emile
7. Mr. KAGABO Diallo Callixte
The parties UDFR-IHAMYE and ISANGANO-ARRDC call all democrats and human right activists to hold the RPF-Inkotanyi’s regime and its President Paul Kagame accountable and to unconditionally release all political opponents because they are victims of defending their visions that differ from those of the ruling party.
These comrade opposition polititians are as follows:
- Mr. Bernard Ntaganda, a Lawyer by profession, President and Founder of PS-IMBERAKURI Party (partner of UDFR -IHAMYE), accused and condemned for his opinions and political commitments on opposing the Rwandan regime headed by the RPF party since 1994.
- Mr. Deogratias Mushayidi, President and Founder of the party PDP – IMANZI, charged and condemned for his opinions and political commitments.
- Mrs Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza, President of FDU-INKINGI, charged and imprisoned for her opinions and political commitments of opposing the Rwandan government lead by RPF since 1994,
- Dr. Théoneste NIYITEGEKA, who wished to run for the Presidency in 2003 elections.
In addition, two journalists of the newspaper UMURABYO, Agnes Uwimana and Mukakibibi Saidati, were sentenced because of their freedom expression, investigation, and opinion pieces published as journalists.
The dictatorship regime of the RPF has routinely condemned all political opponents and journalists under allegations of genocide ideology, threatening national security, sectarianism, divisionism, inciting public disobedience, defamation, etc. All these accusations have only one political goal: to exclude from the political scene all opposition politicians and other perceived critics.
UDFR–IHAMYE and ISANGANO-ARRDC support the action of hunger strike undertaken by Bernard Ntaganda and Deo Mushayidi since 5th January 2013 to denounce the injustice of Machiavellian authoritarian regime of Gen. P Kagame who oppresses the people of Rwanda and violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Although they are prisoners, they remain always citizens who must enjoy their inalienable rights.
UDFR – IHAMYE and ISANGANO-ARRDC ask that an international investigation be done by international organizations of human rights on the conditions of detention and the lives of prisoners in general, but in particular of political prisoners in all prisons in Rwanda;
The Parties UDFR –IHAMYE and ISANGANO-ARRDC and their members stand in solidarity with all political opponents and other unjustly imprisoned Rwandans.
Given the situation in Rwanda, UDFR-IHAMYE and ISANGANO-ARRDC urge all Rwandans, politicians and intellectuals to realize the crisis caused
by the RPF all these many years since 1994 until now which has not shown any effort of political dialogue with the opposition parties in exile and within Rwanda, the armed opposition such as FDLR and RUD in the forests of the DRC and the representatives of churches in Rwanda as well as civil society in exile and inside Rwanda in attempt to back democracy and to find the adequate solution to the real problems of our country.
Done on 15th January 2013.
